It has a simple but tangy sauce and a blend of American white cheeses. Many restaurants also put peanut oil on the pan before baking so that it has a crispy, almost-fried feeling to the crust. Detroit Style Detroit style is a square Sicilian-style that's twice baked. First, it's baked to a chewy consistency and then baked until it's crisp. What really makes Detroit style unique is that they put the marinara sauce on top of the cheese rather than under it. The toppings are the usual ones such as pepperoni, green peppers, olives and hamburger. DC Jumbo Slices What makes this DC-style pie different than the rest is just what the name suggests - they're big. Jumbo slices are usually much bigger than your head. The pie itself will cover the entire table. Other than its sheer size, the DC jumbo slice is a pretty much ordinary pie. Toppings are usually just cheese or pepperoni.
