The first step to affiliate marketing is finding your niche. You may have a lot better luck if you pick one that is geared toward a really hot topic. Here are five places you can head to do your research:

Clickbank - choose a product with gravity of 50 or over
Amazon's bestsellers list
43things.com - needs to be over 5,000 people who want to do this
Trendhunter - check out any relevant topics
Yahoo Buzz - top 10 in each category

Step # 2 - Finding your product
The next step is locating a product to promote within your chosen niche. There are so many places you can find products but I recommend checking out Clickbank, Linkshare, Commission Junction, Shareasale or Clixgalore. Always chose a high quality product because it will convert better. Also choose a market that has been consistently growing over time (you can check it out at Google Insights) and then you want one that has a good track record.

Step #3 - Constructing your article
Constructing your article is very important and it basically consists of three parts.

Headline:
Your headline is the most important because you want to grab your reader's attention. Start with asking questions or mention the benefits of your article. Use power words such as amazing, secret, powerful, revealed, unleashed, best, turbo, etc. Always include your keyword in the title, keep it short and relevant.

Body:
When constructing the body of your article, put yourself in the place of the reader. Keep your paragraphs short and concise and give the readers what you promised. Keep your article body between 350-400 words. Use short paragraphs and at times include numbers, bullet points, sub-heading or statistics.

Resource Box:
Your resource box should finish your article. Always include a clear call to action. Split test different resource boxes to see which one pulls better and then use that one in future articles.
