6 Fool-proof Tips To Writing Article Headings That Demand Attention

It is a known fact that your article heading is the key that opens the door to your unique article. You have to master the art of leaving that key in the lock, so that anybody can open that door. Here are six simple tips to help you accomplish this difficult task:

1. Polish your article heading to the right length: the heading should not be too long or too short. Discoveries have shown that most article headings that are too long usually put-off a potential customer and most article headings that are too short usually lack captivating power.

2. Be precise: your heading should be precise and direct to the point.don’t procrastinate on the subject matter. Drop it concise and hot. For example, if your product helps people lose weight, you can phrase your article heading like this; “the only thing you have to lose here is weight.” You will agree with me that the heading drives the point straight home. The message is simple and precise - weight loss.

3. Your article heading should offer help: this is very vitalbecause 99% of people looking for products and/or services online actually need help to solve their problems. For example, if you are promoting an ebook on skills and techniques of playing golf, instead of using an article headin that reads; “the best ebook on golf tactics,” your article heading should read thus: “7 ways to break your birdie handicap.” This is a morehelpful topic and will bring in more sales.

4. Avoid ambiguity: your article heading should not have different meanings and make the reader guess what you are talking about. For example, if your article heading goes like this:”get the best fruit juice in town.” There are a lot of varying ambiguities associated with this heading such as; which fruit juice are you talking about? Where do I get this juice? I live in Arizona, what town are you talking about? Even if your article body answers some of these questions, your heading has only succeeded in putting the reader off.

5. Avoid using hype: do not use hype in your article heading. This detracts from the value of your article body and the reader/potential customer looses confidence in you and your product. Even if you succeed in getting the reader to read the whole article, hype usually overblows the value of your product and your article cannot withstand such hype usage. Using the fruit juice example in point 4 above; who told you your fruit juice is the best?

6. Always remember the function of your article heading: anytime you are constructing a heading for your article, always remember its function. Its serves as a gateway to your article body. It does not explain the article, neither is it the medium to sell a product. Make sure the article serves the function of captivating the reader to read the rest of your article. That way, it has done its job, leaving the other parts of the article to do their job.
