6 Points To Creating An Impressive Internet Site

Although nowadays anyone can create a website with or without web building experience, using available tools, many don’t give a good impression to site visitors. The money you save on the design and development may end up costing you more later, simply due to the fact that you do not present a reliable image.

Here are some points that will help you maintain a professional looking website, and pull in more business:

1. Maintain a consistent ‘look’: Branding is another term for it. Throughout your website, and throughout your entire business image (stationery, signage, advertising, documents), present a consistent look so that people will recognize you and know that they are in the right place. Your site’s banner is key for this, and should contain your logo, buy line, colours and suitable imagery.

2. Remember your website is for your visitors, not for you. Think about what information they would want to get about you. They need to feel you are serious about them getting what they want.

3. Ensure that it is polished and that you don't apply too many flashy colors or font types. All you need to do is highlight it with boldface or a bullet point. If you have 20 important items you want to jump out on the page, maybe you should re-think your content – cut it back; refocus on what you want to say.

4. Stick to the basics: Your content must be brief and concise and go directly to the point. Use easy to read language. Steer clear of space-filling "poetry" or anything else that side-tracks things. A person visiting a site for particular information can easily shift to a different site that will give the required information quickly.

5. It's important that the images you use on your web site are of good quality or they will take away from the page. Going without an image is better than having an ugly one. There are many very reasonably priced editing tools for images available on the internet but check to see if your website building tools have resizing and editing available for your pictures.

6. Very importantly, find some ‘honest’ friends to have a look over your site’s visual impression and how it reads.

Once you get into a habit of keeping your website clean and simple, making changes to it will be easier, too.

So, looking good on the internet need not be hard work....simply stay on track to keeping your site simple and to the point.
