Following are 7 key steps I have discovered in learning affiliate marketing. Hopefully they will help you avoid the frustration and desperation I experienced along the way.

When learning affiliate marketing stick to one approach until you master it, or you prove it's ineffective. It's easy be overwhelmed and try a little of everything however you must be methodical when learning affiliate marketing.
Key 2 - Learning Affiliate Marketing.
Be wary of gurus. Always keep in mind when learning affiliate marketing that the "gurus" are trying to sell you something. I signed up to so many guru mailing lists and every week I would get bombarded with offers. Learning affiliate marketing requires you filter out this 'noise' and focus on one thing at a time.
Key 3 - Learning Affiliate Marketing.
Focus on action. Learning affiliate marketing theory is important, but experience is essential. When you start out it's easy to mistake learning for progress. However learning affiliate marketing is actually about generating income. I spend no more than one hour a day on my education. Most of my time is spent taking action.

Decide which you have more of, cash or time. Some approaches such as PPC are cash driven; others such as article writing are time driven. Whilst learning affiliate marketing focus on approaches that match you most abundant resource. Is it cash or time?

Persist and repeat. My learning of affiliate marketing took off once I started seeing it as a skill granted by experience not a quick cash scheme. Learning a new skill is tedious, you do the same thing over and over again and persist until you are successful, just think of learning to walk.

Find some friends. Learning affiliate marketing alone is difficult and gurus can't connect on your level. I hunted far and wide to find a good online community that worked for me. Key 7 - Learning Affiliate Marketing.
Be careful buying Ebooks. Include in the cost the time you will need to read and implement the book's content. When learning affiliate marketing it's common to waste huge amounts of time reading Ebook's of poor quality. I ended up selecting one for each approach (like Beating Adwords for PPC). I would then focus on only that Ebook and its approach until I saw results or determined the approach didn't work.
