Now, each morning, let this simple act work as a reminder to change other established ways of rationalizing, acting and feeling throughout that one day, as you resolve to don your shoes in a certain way. Say to yourself as you fasten your shoes; "in a new and finer way, I am starting the day." Then, during the day, consciously declare that: (1) I will close my mind and ignore completely all those demoralizing and negative "facts" which I can do naught to change. (2) I will act as intelligently and as logically as practical, regardless of what eventuates. (3) I propose to practice smiling at least three times within the next twenty-four hour period. (4) My own opinion will not be permitted to change facts in a discouraging or negative way. (5) I am going to behave, insofar as possible, as if I already am the sort of personality I wish to be and success is inescapable. I will rehearse "acting like" and "being like" this new personality. (6) I am going to be a little less fault-finding and a little more charitable of other people, their faults, failings and mistakes. The best possible reading of their actions is what I will grant. (7) Friendlier toward other people is how I will try to become and act. (8) Ashappy as possible is how I will be. Yes, it is easy. However, constructive and beneficial power on your self-image, each of the above usual ways of thinking, feeling, and acting, does have. Play with them for 21 days. See if worry, guilt, and ill will have not been diminished, and if confidence has not been magnified, after you "Experience" them. It is the little things in life that make the biggest difference. Who was it who once declared that? No, I would not have a clue either. Nevertheless, it is valid.
