8 Reasons Not To Cry About Your Mortgage

1. Having a mortgage might stress you out, especially if you don't have much 'savings' after you have paid your monthly payment. But consider this - you are paying money into a mortgage every month, which is like ENFORCED savings. At the end of all these payments, you're going to have a piece of property!
2. This decreases the likelihood of you having to rent when you are retired. Paying rent is fine now, but when you are old and don't have an income, wouldn't you love to not to have to worry about rent? When your mortage is paid off, it's paid off. You can live there free for the rest of your life!
3. In Australia, despite the financial crisis worldwide, our property prices did not seem to be impacted that much. Even better news, now confidence is increasing, so are property prices (of course, this is not nice if you don't yet have a property).
4. Rent helps make other people rich, your mortgage payments are paying off your own future. You are owning your own destiny!
5. You don't have to worry about being kicked out or having a random rent increase
6. You can make your home prettier - you can paint, retile, get new carpet, new cupboards. You don't have to ask 'permission' to feather your nest.
7. In a few years, you might be able to borrow against the equity you have in your property (can't do that with rent money!)
8. Millions of people around the world live with a mortgage - they also somehow make time to go on holidays, go out for fancy dinners, buy clothes and go to the movies. You just need to get used to it. It isn't impossible to manage your mortgage and still have a life.
