We've all heard it throughout our lives; a pictures worth a 1000 words.
Of course that is only a half truth, a picture is only worth a 1000 words, if used correctly.
Even when a picture is used correctly, it is hard to replace 1000 words, if those words are the right words, so if you are going to try to replace good copywriting with graphics, there are a few tips you should know.
Here is some tips to make your mini site graphics help you convert more visitors.
1 - When creating website header graphics, create your header with white space in the bottom half of the graphic with some object overlapping the colored area and the white area; that way the object points down into your body copy, and will draw the visitors eye into your body copy.
2 - Always use ALT tags with your graphics to improve search engine rankings. ALT tags with keywords sprinkled throughout can help greatly.
3 - Only use graphics to get a specific idea or feeling across to your visitors (relevants); do not use mini site graphics for graphics sake.
4 - Turn your headlines and subheadlines into graphics; this will give you better layout control, and look more professional.
5 - Create headline and subheadline graphics in a different, but similar font face to your body copy font face. Using a different font face in your headline graphics will help them stand out from your body copy.
6 - Use bullet points (benefits) on your ecover graphics, and use a large enough ecover graphic that a website visitor can read the bullets on your ecover.
7 - When creating a footer graphic for your mini site, create it like you would the header graphic except use the white space in the top portion of your footer graphic so the object that overlaps the colored area and the white area of your footer seems to point up into your body copy.
This will draw your visitors eye back up to your body copy.
8 - Learn how color effects the mood of your visitors.
