80s Fashion And Changing Fashion Trends
During ‘70s people used to wear tight upper wear with a loosely fitting bottom wear. This type of a style statement just interchanged in the 80s. Women began to wear bolder dresses with shoulder pads. Men started wearing full sleeve shirts made out of expensive fabric with baggy loose trousers which were tapered at the ankle. “Romantic Movement” influenced by the former ruffians was popularly started by a new designer romantic look. The hot and stylish outfits of leather and designer jeans also came forth later and became an integral part of fashion. Corporate women started to wearing pointed and high heeled shoes. Jelly shoes characterised by their clear and glossy colour became popular at parties. Jogging pants and tracksuits became common leisure wear. Rock bands solemnized acid washed faded jeans, denim jackets along with piercing and tattooing as the fashion statement of that era. Earrings became a trend for men to wear. Hairstyles also took fast strides and included a lot of mousse which gave the impact of a shiny convoluted look. Colored and streaked hair came into trend. Men started to keep longer hair and some women kept shorter hair. Jewellery encrusted with precious stones became a display of wealth and power. Wearing two watches on the same arm became a trend. Gold bracelets and hoop earrings grew to become common in this time. Designer bags manufactured from leather were also among the trend setters. Shawls in several variety & colours were worn on different events like in daytime with tank tops and at evening with gowns. Designer lingerie for women also made a part of the trend especially the ones with laces and coloured boxer shorts for men. Small metal framed eye glasses became popular towards 1984-85.
