9 Easy Steps To Get Rid Of Bad Breath Naturally

Bad breath generally stems from bacteria in the mouth, often on the tongue. Bad breath can also be caused by food, poor dental hygiene, tobacco use and certain medical conditions. There are many ways to cover up bad breath, but if you're tired of quick fixes and want to get rid of halitosis once and for all, take these instructions to heart--or should we say mouth?

1. Strong tasting food can cause bad breath. In the same way that alcohol is extremely noticeable on the breath of someone drunk, strong tasting food can also find its way onto the breath of someone who has consumed it. The noxious smelling chemicals find their way into your blood, which releases it into the air once the blood reaches your lungs, giving you garlic, onion, liver ,or whatever breath.

2. Smoking - This is an obvious cause of bad breath and there is not a breath treatment on the market that can combat this area of halitosis. Nicotine literally oozes from every part of your body, inside and out, so the smart way of combating this it to kick the habit.

3. Poor dental hygiene: If you do not clean your teeth, gums and tongue on a regular basis, plaque (a colorless deposit composed of bacteria) can build up, resulting in bad breath.

4. If you're on a strict carb-restricting diet, or any diet that forces you to burn fat instead of carbs, consider throwing healthy carb-rich snacks into the mix, like apples or bananas.

5. Gargling with mouthwash or saltwater on a regular basis will help to reduce bad breath. You can't brush your tonsils, but you can rinse them. The tonsils can be a source of bad breath too, as they catch food particles and bacteria. But a daily gargle for at least 30 seconds will help keep the bacteria count down.

6. Spicy food is a great culprit and many people are shocked because they think that bad breath caused by such food is limited to the day after consuming the foods in question. The fact is spicy food can cause bad breath for two to three days after a meal and this is why people think the cause lies elsewhere. This is one of the best bad breath cure.

7. Look for gum sweetened with xylitol. For one thing, sugar's not good for your mouth. Xylitol is a sugar substitute that actually works to prevent bacteria from replicating in the mouth.

8. A dry mouth encourages the accumulation of dead skin cells. These dead skin cells are then consumed by bacteria. And then you have the breath of death once again. Drinking water also rinses out food particles and what-not.

9. Coffee contains acids. When drinking coffee you make your mouth an acidic environment. This will accelerate the reproduction of bacteria. This is why many people feel a sour metallic taste after drinking a cup of coffee. Replace tea for coffee is an excellent alternative.
