Why would you build one? Some have a greenhouse because of the pleasure they get from having one. It can give you comfort to see you plants, vegetables, and flowers. If you want to build a greenhouse, go over these basic points you need to know before you start on your project. 1. Second hand material: Especially if you are planning to build a large greenhouse, consider using salvage materials to lessen the cost. Have time to gather those that you have at home and see where they can fit in your plan. 2. Climate: What is the climate of the place that you live? If you are in a cold climate area, the best suited is an insulated greenhouse. Having an insulated greenhouse will provide your plants the warmth and heat they need. Otherwise, if you're place is usually warm, have a greenhouse with shade control will be the best one to build. 3. Right environment: Before making a plan for the greenhouse, it is expected that you have in mind what kind of plants you will have. Then have the proper environment suited for your plants. Prepare the proper ventilation, pest control, soil, heater, humidity control and air circulation devices. 4. Location: One primary aspect to decide is the location. Place your greenhouse where there is enough sunlight. The east-west part of your place will be more expose to sunlight. It is appropriate especially if you plan to have vegetables and fruit bearing plants. 5. Covering: If budget is not a problem, go for fiberglass or glass made coverings. These will last longer and allows more humidity and warmth. However, if you are tight on budget, you can go with plastic. But think it over since a glass covering is a good investment for a greenhouse. 6. Foundation: You have flexible choices for foundation. If you want a secured foundation, go with concrete. There are also inexpensive foundations where some uses railroad ties. You can be more resourceful on choosing the foundation. 7. Accessories: Have you thought of ways to make your greenhouse more comfortable? Add some benches, heating system, watering systems or other automatic equipment that you want to have. 8. Pest control: An important point, there are "good bugs" that you can use to control the "bad bugs". In case you find a bug in one of your plant, immediately put it outside the greenhouse so it won't affect the other plants. 9. Storage: When you plan a greenhouse, don't forget to set aside a space where you can store your fertilizer, soil and other tools. Plan out how you can keep things in order inside the greenhouse.
