A Buying Guide To Pressure Washers

Pressure washers have become a bit hit in the UK with many homeowners now having one to carry out chores such as cleaning the car and getting stains off the patio and driveway.

Many of us purchase a pressure washer only to find that it doesn’t carry out the tasks we require it to, this can be due to a lack of power or attachments. It is vital that you buy the correct pressure washer for your needs so please read through our buying guide and you will soon know what your new pressure washer needs.

What Will You Use The Pressure Washer For?
This is an important factor to consider as not every pressure washer will carry out your requirements. The main thing to consider here is the pressure, also known as bar. If you require a pressure washer to clean things such as bins, garden furniture and garden tools then a light bar pressure is required of around 100 bar.

If you want to clean items such as wooden fences, cars, hot tubs and lawnmowers then a medium bar pressure of around 110 is required.

For heavy duty items such as brickwork, patios and decking a higher bar pressure of around 120-130 bar is needed to remove stubborn dirt and grime.

The pressure of your washer is very important and is dependant upon the tasks you want to carry out so careful consideration of these will help you to get the right one.

Consider How Long You Will Using The Pressure Washer For
If you are going to be using the pressure washer for long periods of time such as cleaning a large driveway you will need a washer with a high water capacity. The higher the litre-age the longer you can use the washer for at a given time.

This is an important thing to consider because if you are going to use the pressure washer for small tasks such as garden furniture you will not need a high capacity which will in return, reduce the price.

Pressure Washer Accessories
You will need a good amount of accessories, not always at the time of purchase but to be added in future. Accessories such as brushes and high powered lancers make cleaning stubborn areas of dirt a breeze on many different surfaces.

Brushes are ideal for car cleaning and conservatories, whilst lancers are great for producing higher powered jets of water which can clean patios and driveways easily.
