A Closer Look At Your 6 Pack Ab Abdominal Exercise Workout

Getting that six pack ab midsection you are looking for isn't just about exercise alone. It's also about getting rid of body fat. These two things go hand in hand and you won't get the washboard stomach look you want if you ignore either one of them.

If you are holding onto a lot of stomach fat, just doing crunches won't get rid of it. Granted, doing many crunches will give you a strong 6 pack but you won't be able to see it because the muscles will be covered with fat.

To lose fat, you need to do plenty of cardiovascular exercise. You also need to watch what you eat. This means you should try very hard to eat fewer products containing sugar, fat and salt.

An easy and fun way to get your cardio in is to ride a bike, stationary or not, it doesn't matter, so long as you jack up your heart rate up for about 20 minutes.

Mix up your exercise with things like dips and pull ups to get well on your way to working up that old heart and breaking a sweat as well. Don't forget to drink plenty of water an hour before and after cardio exercise.

Don't forget, many of the exercises you will be doing to get the abdominals of your dreams will require good upper body strength so throw in as many push ups as you can in whatever proper manner you can do them.

Eating plenty of whole oats, fruits and vegetables as well as nuts for protein will give your body the balanced energy you'll need to lose fat and create muscle. If your diet contains these foods, grown in the ground and delivered unchanged to the market, it's probably a safe bet to include it in your diet.

You would be surprised at how little animal protein a human being actually needs in his or her diet, so don't worry about eating a lot of red meat. Fish now and then is OK, but not too much, OK?

You can't get a six pack by just doing sit-ups and crunches. You have to lose fat, get your cardio and mix up your exercise regimen on a regular basis to keep your muscles guessing.

If you don't keep you body guessing, it will quickly adapt to what you are doing to it and then compensate to keep you where you are.

The reason for this is a thing called homeostasis, which is a fancy word for balance and your body likes balance. The only balance your body has known thus far is what you are currently working with so you must be sure to teach your body a new type of balance in order to make all of your hard work stick.

If you are looking to get that lean washboard look, avoid doing side-bends Side-bends have a tendency of making your waistline seem larger. That's because side-bends target the obliques so well and the obliques, in turn, respond to a work out very well. In the end, you'll end up with a thick waist look if you're not careful. Remember, side-bends not at all or at least in moderation.

One more cardio exercise that is a lot of fun and burns a lot of fat is jump roping. You don't have to be a jump rope expert but you should give it a try and it doesn't take much of it to make you sweat and your heart pump hard.
