A Day In The Life Of A Continuing Care Retirement Community (ccrc) Employee
The Wellness Department (Fitness Center and Aquatics Center and other mind and body exercise programs) Community Resources Department (activities, programs, events, clubs and committees) Volunteer Opportunities (on and off campus for residents and those interested in volunteering at The community) Social Work Department (successfully transitioning new residents to the community and assisting residents through the aging process) Pastoral Ministries Department (addressing the spiritual needs of residents, including the death and dying process) Fortunately, we have a great team of Managers that oversee these departments and report directly to us. Each week we meet with them individually to discuss the issues that they are facing, and empower them to always strive to provide an exceptional lifestyle experience for community residents. The team gets together on a weekly basis to discuss team initiatives and goals, and ensure good communications interdepartmentally. In addition to mentoring this fine group of Managers, we handle the communications with residents and their families during the moveout process. Though this is the least favorite part of our jobs, we feel compelled to offer the same great customer service that is provided when residents movein to the community as to when they depart. We know that our residents and their families are our best marketing source. Regularly, we also have the opportunity to work with several resident committees as their staff advisor. These committees include: Resident Life Committee Staff Appreciation Fund Committee Ministry Council, Protestant Faith Council Catholic Faith Council RAC Election Resident Committee From time to time, we am invited to other resident committee meetings at their request regarding various issues or concerns. We are also involved in special projects such as the Philanthropy Committee. As the Director, there are various built in responsibilities such as overseeing and managing the department budget, personnel development, as well as playing an integral role as a member of the Executive Team in shaping the policies and procedures for the community. You see, our responsibilities are quite varied. We are always looking for new and exciting ideas that help to influence the aging services arena. We want the community to be the top dog of all retirement communities, and strive to achieve this on a daily basis.
