A Few Ideas For Furnishing And Decorating A Bedroom

The fundamentals of every bedroom have three factors; the area for comfortable sleeping, the dressing area and the sitting area. Using the right furniture and decorations will create a beautiful bedroom. First of all, spend some time looking at the room you will be turning into a bedroom and understand where these three areas will work best.

In the creating process the furniture is your first concern and its best placement will depend of the size of the space and where the outlets in the room are based as well as the windows and wardrobe. The bed frame is the starting point and will be the center point of the room. Put the frame up where you plan the sleeping area and when you have it placed well, put the rest of the bed together. Add some new linens and new bedcover. Place one or two night stands next to the bed on either side and take a look at what you have created to this point.

Change the window curtains or drapes to match your bedspread. All the fabrics should be coordinated with the colors of the walls and flooring. The same tones and values should be incorporated into the design of the drapes and the bed covering. Now bring in the dresser. If you have enough room, using a set of dressers is always a good idea for extra storage space. The placement of these is usually best near the corners or the closet. By creating a grouping you will have all your clothing in just one area of the room for convenience.

In front of the dressers and closet is a good area to create a dressing space. You can easily set up a room divider or decorative screen if you want to have privacy in this space of the room. Place a mirror in this area not only for function but to give the room more depth and interest.

Most bedrooms now have a computer setup which means you need to place a small computer desk near the outlet for the electrical parts of the computer. If you would rather, this is a nice place for a dressing table with a mirror for doing your hair and applies makeup. Add a small chair and keep it pushed up to the table or desk. Place a couple nice pictures or pieces of decorative art on the wall so they are balanced and pleasing to the eye. Your room is almost ready.

Provided you still have some room, bringing in a small couch or love seat will add a very cozy element to the look and feel of the room. Put this under a window that gets sunlight so that it can be a nice place for reading or just for relaxing. This is a nice place for doing some meditating away from the hustle and bustle of the rest of the living space of your home.

When you have a smaller room the furniture you choose needs to also be smaller and vice versa for the larger space. Small furniture will make the room look larger and bigger furniture in a large space will make the room feel cozier. To add some interest and comfort you can now incorporate an area rug. The placement and size depends on the size of the room but the colors should be a match for the theme of the room.

Using an area rug with a carpet is fine but the rug needs to compliment the carpet. If the carpet has pattern then the rug needs to be plain but if the carpet is plain then using a pattern that works well with the drapes and bedspread works good. If you cannot decide using floral is a safe choice. Again, the smaller room needs smaller pattern. A huge pattern will swallow up the space and be overpowering in a small area. Now use a few little accessories and candles and your room is complete.
