There are plenty of reasons to post comments on blogs for example:- many use the Do follow plugin..so google will follow your links and humans follow comments so you get traffic
One of the key points for commenting in blogs for me is if they are relevant to my niche then I can increase my standing as an expert in that niche by adding a valuable comment to the post. You must be interested in the post and sometimes I add additional information to compliment the blog post.
I get a lot of people commenting on my blogs and if they are not adding value, the comment gets deleted. People who go around posting, "Great post, I thoroughly agree" get deleted straight away. People who add value with their comments and build on my blog I permit their comments because they are good for my readers, even if they disagree with my point.
I suppose the key is to find something relevant that adds to the content of the blog. You add something besides your 2 cents. You add value, like information to help the blog's readers and then a link within your comment to a site where they can get more solutions - more "free" in depth information on what you said.
Blog owners will shun posts that are blatant self-serving.
If it appears that you are truly trying to make someone else's life better in some way with your comment and link to a valuable resource, I think the blog owner would be more than happy to make that link active.
You must realize that blog owners have the option to allow comments, make changes as they see fit, whatever. I think that a lot of people are still of the opinion that it's a good thing to do and can help you earn money online...
