A Healthy And Low Cost Diet: Hearty Oatmeal

When you are going for a low cost diet, you are probably worrying about the nutrients you can get out of it. Do you want to try out a healthy yet low-cost diet? Why not try oatmeal? I’m not referring to the ones sold in small packets with various flavors, but those in large ones that require lengthy time of cooking. You may not be able to find it at your local supermarket.

If you can’t find it at the local grocery stores, try visiting a health food store near your place. Go with large flake oats or steel cut oats. If you are lucky, you might be able to find them in some stores. These are ideal oats since they don’t undergo a lot of processing which means it is still packed with a lot of nutrients.

Concerned about how much you can spend? Budget is not a problem since you can get a bag of good quality oatmeal for less than $2 lasting for two weeks. This can be ideal for breakfast along with some yoghurt or milk. Some people don’t even cook their oatmeal, with just a mix of yoghurt or milk, it is already their tasty breakfast. It sure is one way of taking your health to a higher level.

Canned foods, as we all know, contains a lot of sugar, salt as well as other harmful ingredients and they undergo a lot of processing which means that most nutrients are already gone. You need to spend some time in preparing your own food if you plan to save money for you to be able to eat healthy foods at an economical manner. Rice and beans can provide just that for you.

Oatmeal is convenient to prepare, healthy to eat and can be purchased at a low cost. What can possibly be better than this?
