A Provo Printing Firm Saved My First Assignment

I finally made the move on down to Provo, Utah to go to school from up north in Salt Lake City. It was my first time living on my own and, to be honest, I was a little nervous. My folks travelled with me to make sure I was set up right. They helped me get an apartment, and my good ’ol dad took me to the grocery store and hooked me up with all the goods.

And then they left, and reality set in. The first time away from home was exciting. But I worried. My parents were not going to be there for me anymore for all the little things where I might need their help. I was on my own more than ever before. But, of course I didn’t let all the new roommates see how scared I was. I acted tough, excited and like an adult.

Then it was class time. And then the nerves really went crazy. I was all alone on a big campus with a bunch of strangers. I got lost when I couldn’t find my classes, and I felt like a big idiot. A big, ignorant idiot.

But I made it through my first day and received a few homework assignments. College homework actually seemed similar to what I had in high school. Part of it felt just the same.

Of course, I got home and hung out with my roommates and then procrastinated writing my first paper. By the time I got it done, I went to print. Hit the button, and to my surprise there was no ink in my brand new printer.

I left it sitting on top of my dresser at home – 45 minutes away. It was not worth the almost hour long drive to pick up some ink, so I decided to go out and buy some ink from the store.

Out of all the Provo printing firms I could have visited, I (not surprisingly) chose the one that was the nearest to my apartment. Plus, it was open late. And, I found exactly what I needed. I couldn’t be more relieved. I didn’t want my first college paper to be late.

I learned a lesson about printers (and life in general): always be ready just in case something happens, and that includes always having a backup solution. This experience, even though it was small, was the first to test my independence. It proved that I could get by without my parents help, or at least proved that I could find a Provo printing firm on my own. Living on my own might be really exciting.
