A Slice Of Organic Life
EAN: 9781405317757 “Everybody can have a slice of the organic life” is the claim made by this delightful book. From the urban apartment dweller to those with gardens “A Slice of Organic Life” is packed full of practical projects and tips to get you making small but significant changes in your life. Conveniently divided into three sections according to how much space you have available to you; “No Need For A Garden”, “Roof Terrace, Patio Or Tiny Garden”, “Garden, Allotment or Field”, you can immediately jump into this book and find exciting projects to get cracking with. The first section is useful for those with small or no gardens, and is also the section with the most ideas with twenty-eight different projects in all, including “Grow pots of herbs indoors”, “Clean without harsh chemicals”, “Grow Strawberries in a hanging basket” and “Make and freeze baby foods” to name just a few. Each of the projects in the book are only a few pages long at most so it’s really easy to dip into without feeling overwhelmed. We did find however that once the book was opened the pages quickly started to flit back and forth as new exciting topics and ideas were discovered. So expect our new garden to be full of pots of tomatoes, wigwams of runner beans, blueberry bushes and a fig tree before the year’s out! We’re not sure about keeping chickens and bees although the thought of delicious honey on our breakfast toast and the freshest Eggs Benedict available do sound very tempting, maybe next year... We can all change our light bulbs to the curly energy efficient ones, great, but where to from there? This book takes you to the next step... One of my biggest grips about the ‘Green Movement’ is that so much time and energy has been spent on telling the world how bad the situation is without concentrating on really telling people what they can practically do. This book is a big step in the right direction and is empowering to anyone who feels they want to get things done and make a change in their lives but simply don’t know where to start. We can all change our light bulbs to the curly energy efficient ones and be more frugal with our electricity consumption, great, but where to from there? This book takes you to the next step until you’ll be happily living a truly organic existence and feel like you’re really making a difference. But that’s the thing about this book, it’s not just about going organic, it’s about life, a whole new and better lifestyle, about the things we forget to do whilst being caught up in all the busyness and clutter of our lives. This is a book about rediscovering a balanced and far healthier way of life (for all aspects of your life) for you and your family.
