So, when you are writing and you can condense say a sentence into one or two key terms that more adequately describe your thoughts make certain that those words are not too obscure or unknown to most readers. Always, and I mean always remember that the average readers of today reads at an 8th grade level. Sad, but true.

So keep it SIMPLE when you are using descriptive terms. There was once a great doctor who began trying to embark on a Novel writing career writing stories relating to doctors and what they do. His Agent after reading the work, quickly brought to his attention that the average reader out there has no idea what certain (very common) doctor terms were. Like ventricular-refibulation. Realization swept over him and he quickly redrafted the work, simplifying many of the huge medical terms and quickly became a best-selling author he is today. So take a key note from this little story and try not to lose your readers with your eloquent and wide variety vocabulary.

One thing I like to do is utilize a big word then add another really simple word in the same description like this: He had an exorbitant collection of magazines. I mean a really overly large and big collection.
