One of the major attractions of Cairo is Tahrir Square that is located in the downtown. Formerly it was known with the name of Midan Ismaileyya but the Egyptian Revolution of 1919 changed its name to Tahrir. In its heart, there lies a large traffic circle that is always busy and if moving towards its north-eastern part you will be able to find the plaza that houses the sculpture of national hero Omar Makram.
