A Unique College Preparing Students For Careers In Athletics

When you think of states with a wide variety of colleges and universities, Alabama might not be the first state that comes to mind. But, the fact is that Alabama is the home of one of the most unique colleges in the United States.

The United States Sports Academy really is a totally unique higher education institution, a college which does nothing but prepare students for careers in the world of athletics.

For the most part, the Academy serves adult learners, offering both online and on-campus degree programs.

The Academy allows students to earn professional certificates in sports management, sports coaching, human performance, sports studies, sports fitness, and more.

Bachelors degrees are awarded in sports studies, coaching, and sports management.

The Academy offers masters degrees in sports coaching, sports management, sports fitness, sports medicine, and sport studies, as well as a doctor of education degree in sports management.

As you might guess, many Academy graduates have wound up in college coaching, including Greg McDermott (Iowa State- mens basketball), Jeff Mittie (Texas Christian University- womens basketball), and Mike Leach, the football coach at Texas Tech.

Academy graduates now working in professional sports administration include Michael Santos, the Nashville Predators (NHL) director of hockey operations, and Dennis Lindsey, the assistant general manager of the San Antonio Spurs (NBA).

The United States Sports Academy is by no means the only college or university which can prepare students for careers in athletics, but it is the only one that does nothing else. And, it offers students a wide choice of degree programs online and on-campus.
