A Wonky Reception Site Taken Out By Wedding Insurance

What follows is a little narrative about a soon-to-be-married pair who was so incredibly lucky they had wedding insurance for their special day. The day began without any issues with the ceremony being located outside the actual building at their pretty archway. Well, it was by a busy roadway and not just a little traffic interference could be heard during the ceremony but the newlywed pair didn’t whine or moan about it. The ceremony was just fine for them.

After the ceremony the guests moved into the pre-reception hall for the hour long wait until the main room opened. People were drinking and eating and living it up. This was, after all, a party, a celebration, and the attendees we’re digging the whole scene. Some tasty treats might have been dropped. A cocktail may have spilled a little somewhat. There were a minor or two in attendance, too, so they can be messy sometimes. There simply was not a thing off kilter when it came to the initial party gathering. Nothing that would need any sort of wedding insurance policy.

The wedding attendees then entered into the reception dining room for the wining and dining. The main course was edible to say the least. This was, after all, a wedding and when feeding close to three hundred guests, it’s difficult to knock out delicious main courses. Some would even say the food was barely tolerable, but that didn’t matter. What was important was that all the newlywed’s nearest and dearest were there to hang out with them and to celebrate their marriage! Wedding insurance was the farthermost thing from the happy couple’s. They were preoccupied with spending time and enjoying their loved ones and close friends. They weren’t jumping around the room thinking, “Is all this covered by our wedding insurance policy?”

When dinner was over, the cake cutting took place. At this point, not only had all the guests had a couple under their belt, but so had the bride and groom. They were ecstatic! They decided to {have a little fun with the cake cutting and ended up having a mini-cake fight. A little cake in his face, a little in hers, a little more up his nose, a little more up hers, and so on. Sure, some crumbs and frosting spilled on the carpet, but no one ground it into the rug and the bride and groom were sure a food server or worker would have cleaned it up directly. Besides, this probably happened more than one time in the past and even if the carpet got a little stained, surely the location had wedding insurance coverage of some kind.

At this time—and after cleaning the tasty treat off of their faces—the young hitched pair experienced their first dance. All the guests got choked up during this special dance. After all the other special dances, like the mother son dance, everyone else joined in the celebration. The DJ was a lot of fun and everyone danced and partied. During the bouquet toss, the bride tossed her bouquet to such great heights the flowers actually hit the ceiling! The bouquet bounced right in to the hands of the youngest bridesmaid. No, no person was hurt by jumping for the flowers so no need for wedding insurance thank goodness! Maybe the couple was wondering if they had dropped some coin on a worthless policy.

At the end of the night, almost all of the guests had made their way home and the happy newlyweds were pooped. They were incredibly happy with the outcome of their marriage celebration and they were even more thankful that nothing dreadful happened to the point of having to have their wedding insurance coverage put to use. Astoundingly, no one from the ballroom or locale touched base with them. The guard on duty closed the doors behind them and their perfect special day was complete, only to be alive in their memories. They didn’t even consider that the wedding site owners had been pulling a scam for quite a while now.

Two weeks after the event, the couple got a bill from the owners of the reception hall stating that there was damage caused to their establishment during their celebration. They claimed the gazebo was damaged by the minister. They said a table in the foyer had a drink spilled on it and was ruined beyond repair. They had to search for a similar table to put in its place. They stated that the stupid cake conflict that took place ruined that area of the ballroom and the entire carpet needed to be replaced. They brought up that when the bride tossed her bouquet, it scratched up the ceiling and stained it, so the stained section and the entire ballroom had to be repainted. The total price of all this to the couple came out to over 20k was devastated. They had no idea what to do. They presumed that they had to fork over the cash or get dragged into a court fight, and we all know the amount you can blow in there. After talking with their parents and other family members, it was the minister who brought up their wedding insurance. They got in touch with their wedding insurance broker, who opened up a case to investigate. The two breathed a doubtful sigh of relief.

Several weeks lapsed and the bride and groom heard nada and started to sweat a little. They started checking out their funds to see if they could somehow gather up enough dough that they were being asked to pay. Their wedding insurance representative finally contacted them and told them to come in for a pow-wow.

It turns out the directors of this wedding location had been making false claims on their couples for the past year. Whenever they felt they needed something repaired or upgraded, they would blame the previous weekend’s wedding guests. Lucky for them, most brides and grooms didn’t think they had any options and whenever they tried to work out a deal, the wedding location owners would threaten them with a lawsuit. Unknowingly, couples would just pay up. Not this time.

The wedding insurance policy would have covered any damage caused by the bride and groom’s celebration, but with an open case, the wedding insurance agent was able to inquire about and ask questions of those crooks and uncover the scam. Not only did this couple not have to give cash to the deplorable crooks of the venue, but they saved any future extortion by these wedding rip off artists.

In this case, normal wear and tear would have been the resolution and their wedding insurance would be unnecessary at that point. And now, this couple and their wedding insurance representatives, are superstars for sending those bad venue proprietors to prison. If it wasn’t for that wedding insurance policy and the ensuing investigation, the victimization of couples may have gone on and on and on.
