A Belt Conveyor Is An Essential Tool For An Efficient Production Process

Conveyors are used to move a wide collection of items along horizontal, declining or inclining paths. Due to the versatility of it's design and the sheer number of products it can be used to transport belt conveyors are the most commonly used conveyor around.

You will uncover belt conveyors in most modern production facilities, often being used in conjunction with more complex machines to increase a systems production throughput.

Belt conveyors are so versatile that there is likely to be a type to suit your production process.

There are many different advantages to consider when choosing a belt conveyor over other methods of transporting product or material.

Some of the benefits are:

As opposed to manually transporting or other types of machinery for transporting material over great distances the belt conveyor is far more efficient and cost effective.

There is no damage to your product caused by conveying.

You can easily change the angle of incline or decline on a belt conveyor should you need to change the height at which the product is transported.

A lot of the time a company will want to be able to inspect the product as it is transported so that they can get rid of any defects a belt conveyor allows them to do this easily.

You can dramatically reduce labour costs and the need for manpower in certain areas by using belt conveyors to replace manual handling processes.

Incline belt conveyors can have cleats on the top surface of the belt to stop product rolling back

If you get to the point of needing to choose a manufacturer here are a few handy tips

1. Whenever you are making a significant purchase you want to ensure you are doing so with a reputable company and buying a conveyor is no different. Some businesses who will market themselves as conveyor manufacturers, are actually just go betweens, whe will then contact various manufacturers to get your conveyor as cheaply as they can and maximise their profit margin. These businesses do not desing or manufacture the machines themselves and therefore have limited experience, customer service or spares facilities.

2. You should ensure when buying your conveyors that they come with a full warranty period. You should query prior to ordering your conveyor what warranty period you receive with this piece of equipment and what the warranty covers. A basic warranty may only cover a "back to base" repair or replacement, in which case you will have to send the faulty or damaged part back to the manufacturer. You may want to pay for an upgraded warranty to cover visits from engineers to sort any problems.

3. We all like to save money but going for the cheap conveyor may not necessarily always be a wise decision. A lot of local engineers will try their hand at building a conveyor if they are a light on work and will most likely price the machine cheaply, this does not always mean you will be getting the best conveyor for your application.

4. When buying a conveyor it is wise to provide samples of all the product you are planning to use on the conveyor. Often conveyors are designed specifically for a specific process so to be sure it will work correctly as soon as it is delivered you should provide samples so the conveyor can be tested before delivery.
