A Weight Training Program For Beginners...

Finding a weight training program for beginners can be a bit daunting especially when you get bombarded by information from guys who have been doing it for years.

My weight training program for beginners is simple to follow, easy to implement and more importantly, starts you on the road to toning your body the way you want to.

You will probably find a whole load of other web sites offering a weight training program for beginners. There is no definitive program to follow but my suggestions below are about as good as it gets, and will have a lot in common with many other places offering a weight training program for beginners.

My 10 step weight training program for beginners is as follows;

1) Work out only on 3 days per week and with rest days in between (i.e. work out on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays)

2) Work just 2 sets of muscles groups on each of the 3 days. Select from Chest, Back, Shoulders, Legs, Biceps and Triceps.

3) Use weights that are difficult to lift (no pain - no gain) but that will enable you to repeat the exercise about 10-15 times in one go (called a 'set'). You should then repeat the weight training set two or three times per session.

4) For the Chest I suggest the Pec Deck (or the equivalent movement with dumbbells) and Bench Press (either sat up or horizontal with a bar).

5) To exercise the Back use the lat pull down machine to the front and then to the rear and use the lower back machine.

6) For the Shoulders do the military/ dumb bell press and the bent over dumb bell raises.

7) For the legs use the leg press, leg curls, and squats.

8) To exercise the Biceps use alternate dumb bell curls, straight bar curls, and hammer dumb bell curls.

9) For the Triceps use dumb bell kick backs, lying triceps extensions, and cable triceps pushdowns.

10) If you feel up to it and are interested in overall fitness as well as weight training, then on the Tuesdays and Thursdays you may want to do some general cardiovascular exercise like jogging or cycling. Just make sure no weight lifting is done on these days.

So, in a nutshell that is my weight training program for beginners. It is the same program that I have personally used and have shown others to use.
