Atp Tennis - Nadal Beats Berrer In Second Round At Indian Wells

The Spaniard of 22-years-old and No.1 of the world, Rafael Nadal had a great performance in the second round of Indian Wells by beating the German Michael Berrer 6-2, 6-1. The game was well-played by the Spaniard, who did not have any difficulties at it since the German didn’t challenge Nadal in any way. The No.1 of the world will face the Russian Dmitry Tursunov in the third round, which will be his second match on the tournament, since he received a bye in the first round. Tursunov defeated the American Michael Russell in a tough game 7-6, 4-6, 6-3 in the early morning of Sunday.

During the game, Rafael Nadal was always in control, winning 16 of the last 19 points in the match. The Spaniard broke the world No.112 Berrer in the first game of each set and it took him one hour, six minutes to take apart another adversary. Moreover, the Spaniard had 24 winners, while he made only 45 percent of his first serves; he lost only five points on serves.

With this triumph, Nadal expressed his confidence in his game and his satisfaction of his performance at his first game at Indian Wells. "For me, it was perfect. I played a very comfortable match. I had the break in the first game in both sets, so that's really important. I felt well on court, playing good," said the top seed of the tournament.

Now, Rafa Nadal will focus on his next game against the Russian, who could be a good contender for the Spaniard. Moreover it has to be mentioned that the Spaniard is considered at the top of his game and his professional career. Many consider that he is a great player and even “the strongest player on the tour”, as the No.3 Djokovic has said, but he has also added that Nadal is not invincible, especially on hard courts. For his part, Nadal says he never focuses on his rivals; he is just focusing on improving his game at each match his playing at every tournament.

Nadal won the Indian Wells in 2007 and he hopes to repeat the title this year, however it is going to be tough as players like Federer are looking to recover their confidence and add titles to their careers. Djokovic for his part is the defender champion of the event and he is also aiming to repeat the achievement of last year’s. Murray, Roddick, Simon and other great players are also trying to improve their games at important events like Indian Wells.

Some analysts think that Nadal could be a stronger contender to win the Indian Wells title this year than in past. The Spaniard has improved his performance at hard courts and that was proved by winning this year’s Australian Open against the Swiss Roger Federer. Also his determination and focus at every minute of every match is amazing. Nadal just has a strong mind set, as he has demonstrated several times; even when he is not playing his best tennis he never lose his concentration, no matter what Nadal always stays focused, which is incredible to see in a tennis player.

We wish the Spaniard the best of luck on his next match and in the whole tournament and we hope to see him in the finals showing his best tennis.
