Atv Parts & Accessories

One of the great things about an ATV, or all-terrain vehicle, is that anyone can enjoy riding one. If you love the outdoors it's a great way to get away and enjoy nature, but it's also not too complicated or intimidating if you're used to hanging out indoors. When you're on the trail racing through sandy dunes or muddy waters, the stresses of day-to-day life seem to just fade away. To take full advantage of your ATV, manufacturers like Honda, Polaris, Suzuki, and Yamaha produce a variety of quality ATV parts and accessories.

But before you start making those upgrades to your ATV, there are a few things to take into consideration. If there's even a possibility of doing some hardcore off roading in your ATV, you need to make sure you have the proper ATV tires, wheels, and winches for the job.

ATV Tires & Wheels

The first upgrade you're going to want to make is ATV tires. To get the traction and performance you need in the sand and mud, stock tires just won't cut it. One of the biggest factors in choosing an ATV tire brand is whether your all-terrain vehicle houses 3, 4, or 6 ATV wheels. This will affect which size tires you can install.

One of the benefits of an ATV is that, unlike Jeep, SUV, and truck tires, you don't have to worry about keeping things street-legal. Your ATV wasn't built to drive you to work, so you don't have to compromise in your ATV wheel and tire choice. Instead, you can keep your focus on what kinds of terrain you'll be driving on so you can determine how heavy-duty your tires and wheels need to be. This is when you'll want to determine if you'll mostly be riding on trails, in sand, or in race conditions and you can choose the best ATV wheels and tires for that terrain. Plus, if you have a UTV, or utility ATV, you're not going to need the more extreme parts.

When it comes to brand selection, there are a number of reliable manufacturers that offer ATV tires and wheels including Kenda, Maxxis, Super Swamper, and ITP. If you've used one of these brands in the past and had a successful experience with them, it's probably a good idea to stick with them. However, if you don't have that point of reference then you'll want to analyze ATV wheel and tire selections more closely with a focus on terrain, specs, and cost.

ATV Winches

Now that you're fitted with proper ATV wheels and tires, you're ready to head out on the trail. But wait – if you plan on doing some serious off roading, you'll want to make sure you have an ATV winch to back you up. If you've ever gotten stuck while off-roading, you've probably wished there were some kind of reset button in life. An ATV winch meets that requirement. It will haul you out of whatever sticky situation you've gotten into whether it's mud, water, sand, or just a ditch.

Trusted manufacturers like Mile Marker, Superwinch, WARN, and Ramsey all have lines of ATV winches that will fit the bill. Mostly you'll be focusing on the line pull in order to determine which ATV winch is right for you. An electric winch is a straightforward approach and you probably won't need more than 3,000 lbs of support for your lightweight ATV. Confirm this with your ATV manufacturer before making a purchase.

Enjoying your ATV

You now have the information you'll need to make a smart purchasing decision on ATV tires, wheels, and winches. Now all you have to do is pick the ones you think will suit your needs and head out on the trails!
