About Art Studios
To be able to work peacefully in an art studio is critical to the development of a young artist’s talents. An art studio is the artists’ workroom. Back then most artists were involved in fine arts and so the concept of the art studio was often associated with fine arts, too. But today art studios are used for other art forms too, such as making music, television broadcasting, radio broadcasting, animation, cinematography, graphic design, photography, sculpture, pottery, architecture, and the usual fine arts. Simply put, the concept of art studios have evolved with the artists they served. Did you know the word “studio” came from the Latin word stadium, meaning to study or zeal? Also the French term for studio is “artelier”, which is used to refer to an artist’s studio as well as to characterize the workroom of a fashion designer. The word “artelier” also carried the connotation of being the home of a wizard or alchemist. It should be noted that the term “art studio” these days is also used to refer a location where artists showcase their work, called an art exhibit. For example, a photographer holding an art exhibit featuring photographs from his or her recent travels. It’s safe to say that artists have evolved and so did art studios.
