About Plasma And Lcds

Plasma and LCD - A Plasma and an LCD are different because of the technology that powers them. Gases like xenon and neon give Plasma TVs life , the gases excite by using the electric pulses from cells called pixels. This causes the gases to glow. This glowing gas, in turn, produces the right red, blue and green light mixture on the pixels. The pixels are given light with a fluorescent light bulb, which is driven by semiconductor software on the motherboard.

Plasma TVs has it's strengths and weaknesses. Plasma TVs show better contrasts. Contrast is the the ratio between the blackest black and the whitest white.

A plasma TV can produce contrasts of 3000 to 1, which is very high by LCD standards. LCD TVs can provide contrasts up to 900 to 1. However, in LCD technology, even a low contrast ratio can produce much better images.

Plasma TV's produce colors with additional red, blue and green. LCD TVs produce colors by blocking unwanted light from the spectrum. Plasma TVs produce colors by the additive principle, LCD TVs use the subtractive principle.

This is what makes plasma TVs much better at producing colors than LCD TVs.Plasma TVs have nice wide viewing angles, as much as 160 degrees. LCD produce images by the LCD lamp behind the screen, viewing angles are not really that wide. ~Anthony Benjamin~ http://www.mysecretsites.info
