It serves also as a cushion to the head in cases of powerful blows and protects it from various forces that could penetrate through the skull. To summarize its purpose: to decelerate the head movement as it sinks into the helmet in case of accidents.
Gloves and boots Sometimes hands can be calloused from driving so much. Gloves can be used to protect the hands. They may also have gauntlets to protect the wrist of the rider. It functions as protection for the hands from abrasion. Boots protect your feet as well especially when they are made out of leather. They also keep you warm and waterproof in cold weathers.
Helmet, motorcycle luggage, suits, jackets, gloves, boots and sunglasses are your added protection. Their common purpose is to reduce accidents and their impacts. Therefore, if you are new to riding bikes, you should not neglect these things as they can help you increase your survival in the event of mishaps. A full face helmet covers the entire head, with a rear that covers the base of the skull, and a protective section over the front of the chin. Such helmets have an open cutout in a band across the eyes and nose, with a plastic face shield (which may be clear or tinted) that generally swivels up and down to allow access to the face. Many full face helmets include vents to increase the airflow to the rider.
A hybrid between full face and open face helmets for street use is the modular or "flip-up" helmet, also sometimes termed "convertible" or "flip-face". When fully assembled and closed, they resemble full face helmets by bearing a chin bar for absorbing face impacts. Its chin bar may be pivoted upwards (or, in some cases, may be removed) by a special lever to allow access to most of the face, as in an open face helmet. The rider may thus eat, drink or have a conversation without unfastening the chinstrap and removing the helmet, making them popular among motor officers.
