Acne Cure: Is It On The Horizon?

While many acne treatment products claim to be an acne cure, the condition is not really "curable", so to speak. Breakouts are the result of the body's natural form of defense against bacteria. If you are prone to breakouts, you simply have to control the activity of the bacteria through continuous acne treatment.

Proionibacterium acnes are the bacterium responsible for inflammation and breakouts. Propioni bacteria reside in the skin, everyone has it. It is basically harmless until the environment is created for it to thrive.

The bacteria become a problem when pores or hair follicles get congested and are short of oxygen. This blockage can be contributed to sebum (better known as oil) and dead skin cells that develop from the natural way of the skin to renew itself.

When a pore or hair follicle is blocked, a comedo develops and P. bacteria invade the pore which starts to swell. At this point, the wall of the follicle or pore ruptures and spills into the inner section of the skin, the dermis. In reaction to the bacteria, the immune system sends white blood cells to the pore to annihilate the bacteria. As the war goes on, pus is created forming the common known pimple.

What are the Differences between Pimples, Nodules and Cysts?

Nodular and cystic acne are considered to be severe forms of acne. Nodules and cysts are created the same way as mild or moderate acne. The difference is the deepness of the break to the wall of the hair follicle or pore. Severe breakouts can be painful, longer lasting, reoccurring, and are more likely to leave scars.

What is the Best Natural Acne Treatment?

There are many ways of treating acne which range from dietary matters, taking antibiotics, surgically draining lesions, messing around with hormones to keep sebum production under control, injecting the lesions with cortisone, or using topical medication.

None of this makes sense to me when it is possible to take care of it naturally. Acne breakouts are a natural reaction to excessive growth of bacteria. Period. Therefore, the natural way of eradicating breakouts is simply to prevent bacteria invasion. This can be done through a topical application of an all-natural acne treatment product that keeps the pores from getting congested.

Many people engage in treatment only until the breakouts clear up. When they cease treatment, another breakout occurs. If you have acne prone skin, consistent use of treatment methods as a preventative measure is necessary to avoid breakouts and to keep the skin clear and healthy. It is not a "cure", it is simply an act of controlling the conditions that lead to breakouts.
