acne is a very 'popular' skin problem that affects many people of all different ages, not just adolescents. In fact up to eighty percent of people in their twenties and thirties suffer from acne breakouts. To be technical, acne is a wide spread skin condition that most people begin having trouble with in their early teens. So many people get acne that it is almost expected when growing up. Everybody seems to go through that phase in their childhood where you are getting pimples left and right. But in reality it can have a adverse effect on a youngsters self esteem.

It can hamper a student in school and make them feel awkward in social setting. Acne starts when your pores get clogged up. Specifically it is your sebaceous gland that gets clogged and that is the gland that produces oil in your skin. This doesn't usually happen to kids under 12 or so because they haven't developed the hormones that cause overproduction of oil.


Even though you may wash everyday and keep clean as a whistle, there are dead skin cells and germs that could cause blockage of the oil glands which results in a black dot or "black head" in your skin. Young girls are usually the first to get acne as they develop and hit puberty earlier than boys do. So unfortunately for them they are the first to suffer acne. The boys usually have more severe cases of acne due to the high levels of testosterone one they hit puberty. This doesn't apply to every single person in the world of course but generally speaking males have way more testosterone than females.

There are a number of things you can do to help prevent acne. One of the most overlooked things you can do to prevent acne is having a proper and well balanced diet. If you eat poorly and don't take care of yourself your acne can get worse. It doesn't help much to be inactive and stuffing your face full of greasy fast food. Water is another thing.

You should drink plenty of water to help prevent acne. Water has the ability to flush your system of toxins and other unhealthy things. This all helps. sometimes make up or cosmetics can cause acne too. It will clog the pores. Not to mention if your skin is at all allergic to whatever it is you are putting on it. That includes certain kinds of soaps and laundry detergent as well.

Never squeeze those zits! Way too many people just can't resist squeezing a zit that is "ready." This is the very thing that can leave permanent scars. Not only that but there is bacteria that comes out when you pop a zit and it can spread to other pores and clog them up. Then it's like a chain reaction of popping pimples and creating new ones. Even frequent washing with things like alcohol and hydrogen peroxide can just irritate your skin even more.

There are treatments you can take that cure acne and nowadays they are working really, really well. Everyone knows about the beautiful celebrity Cameron Diaz and here "zit problem." Well the same stuff she used to clear up her bad case of acne is the same stuff that millions of other people are now using. Most of these acne removal treatments will clear your acne in days! Ah...modern medicine!
