Acne In Teenagers

If you have been lounging in the comfort zone throughout your preteens with a perfect and gentle skin, you may be up for a change now. With the onset of teens, both boys and girls experience the showdown of hyper hormone levels on their skins, as whiteheads, blackheads and pimples start appearing on the face and neck. For most, the skin problems start to recede towards the end of teen years, becoming completely benign in the next few years. But all through this time, you need to keep your cool in your acne control.

The acne will start to fade as you grow older and your hormone levels stabilize. The most basic cause of acne is attributed to the rising testosterone levels that accompany adolescence. This leads to increased oil production by the skin glands, leading to accumulation and blockages. Acne problems stem from normal physiological causes rather than any disease; treat it as a part of you. That said however, make sure you properly care for your skin, as not doing so will definitely aggravate acne.

The skin care regimen should stick with your for the rest of your life, regardless of your skin type or gender. With so many pollutants, free radicals and irritants floating around in the air, you need to nourish your skin extra deep to keep it protected. Your need to regularly cleanse it with a mild face wash, keep it moisturized and protect it from irritants or conditions that lead to rashes/reactions. Such a regimen that takes into account your skin preferences will go a long way in keeping your skin problem free and beautiful, despite the rising hormone levels causing acne. So next time you look into your mirror for a pimple, you should be more worried about the cleansing and moisturizing right.

If you scratch, fidget or vex your problematic skin areas, they are bound to get worse. The reason such areas become fidgety is because they contain substances irritating to the nerve endings. By fidgeting more, you only worsen the case by damaging more skin cells and attracting more irritating substances. It is best to leave the area on its own to heal, cleanse it softly and moisturize adequately.

If you think you are developing some serious acne problems, your treatment starts at your home. The very simple treatments include using products formulated for acne control, containing benzoyl peroxide and salicylic acid. These substances soothe skin irritation while skin cleansers clear accumulated oil and cell debris. Special soaps and creams are sold under different brand names, and though no particular one can be said to work for everybody, you can get them without prescription and use them. Only after eight weeks of intensive care at home will a dermatologist prescribe anything stronger, which can include antibiotic, isotretinoin and azelaic acid. All these medications are not without their own side effects.

And finally, you need to not freak out because the other aspects of your life deserve the better of you. Teenage is the time to build relationships, experience adulthood and pursue personal development.
