Light and laser therapy for acne skin treatment is a relatively new treatment form for acne. Such treatment was made possible by Tappeiner and Jodlbaurin about a century ago in 1904. They pioneered the use of light to inactivate dye labeled bacteria via photodynamic reactions.

Light therapy for acne skin treatment has been made feasible thanks to several key developments in technology: A) pulsed wave mode technology B) heat energy deposition to lesion C) wavelength, spot size and pulse width optimization.

What does this mean for acne sufferers? It means a relatively safe acne treatment regime that gives results comparable to antibiotics. The only downside is the hassle of turning up to repeated sessions. This however is a small price to pay for someone suffering from acne.
