Acting Schools Offer Solid Training
Acting schools are often specialized institutions dedicated exclusively to the art of acting, but advanced acting courses are also offered by fine arts departments in many colleges and universities. A college degree in acting would provide you with the basics to easily transition into the world of stage, film, and television performance. While researching acting schools, take time to consider your immediate and long-term goals. If there is an acting job in your immediate future, perhaps a short course such as Acting for the Camera or an Auditions course could be of benefit. Private lessons are also available in some instances. But, for a lifelong career, you would be wise to slow down and look into acting degree programs, such as an Associate of Arts (AA) degree in Theater. If you were to include a few basic business courses, your MFA would qualify you to be a business manager or administrator for a theater, both highly respected and lucrative positions. Perhaps your goal is to become an educator in theater arts; if so, you should seek a PhD program (also known as a Doctorate degree) and specialize in one or more areas of performing arts that appeals to you.
