Aetna Health Insurance Reminding Drivers That Black Ice Is Dangerous

Driving in the winter can be very dangerous to not only you but to other pedestrians who may be walking on the road. In the northeast during the late fall and winter it is not uncommon to see patches of black ice, or fallen trees on the road. Many of these obstacles can create dangerous and life threatening situations for oncoming traffic. These situations can be made especially more dangerous if a company like Aetna Health Insurance does not insure the driver’s of the oncoming traffic.

Black ice has been threatening the lives of drivers since the beginning of time, what it is a very thin layer of ice on the road, which isn’t actually black. It is clear, which allows the roadway to be seen through it, hence the name black ice. Black ice has the tendency to be more slippery than normal ice covering the road ways which makes it especially dangerous when driver’s hit a patch of it, also it is one of the most hazardous forms of ice on the road because often the driver thinks that the ice is a patch of wetness on the road, when in fact, it is actually ice. Driver’s who hit black ice are very likely to skid off the road, into another lane, or even into oncoming traffic, making it one of the most dangerous types hazards in the winter. The most common places for black ice to form is under bridges or roadways, as well as on top of bridges. This is because the circulation of air on both sides of the road creates an atmosphere where black ice can form very easily. This is because the temperature of the pavement can drop more easily and is more likely to hold water to create black ice, this is the reason why accidents resulting from black ice can be more dangerous than normal car accidents because often the driver is driving on top of a bridge, which means if the driver breaks the barrier it can often lead the car to fall off the top of a bridge which can cause very serious damage to the driver and passengers. This is why it is very important for people driving in the winter to be insured by Aetna health insurance, which is a health insurance company, which is ranked as one of the top insurance companies in the country. To make black ice seem even more dangerous, it doesn’t even have to be 32 degrees for it to form, black ice is known to form even a few degrees above freezing. This means if there is ice on the road from the temperatures being freezing and the air heats up, it is very common for the external ice to melt and spread out which will cause the water to freeze on the roadway where there is ice not already formed causing black ice.
