Affiliate Marketing, Is It Necessary To Have A Website?

Someone might have told you that to earn money online that you need to create Website. Is a website necessary to be successful in Affiliate marketing? YES AND NO. Let's talk about the NO! You can earn an income by web without a Website of your own. As you might know by now, Affiliate marketing is you, connecting customers with vendors. The sellers have their own squeeze page or sales page. Your part as an Affiliate Marketer is to get Buyers to that page, not necessarily to sell. Once the buyers reach the sellers Website it's out of your control. All you can do is hope that the vendor has done their job and they are able to make the sale. Now for the Yes. Having your own Website would give you boost in the amount of sales and possibly resales that you could generate. I explain this below.

What would happen If you were to make a sale without a Website?

The customer would make their first purchase through your Affiliate link that they saw in some article that they happened to be reading at the time and you would make a commission if a sale was completed. Now if that customer were to go back to make a second purchase they would go directly to the vendors Website, which means you don't make any commission on that second sale because they bypassed your affiliate link. It's easier for the customer to locate and remember a Website than a random link that they stumbled on somewhere. This is where a Website is necessary if you're looking to get additional sales to that customer. For those of you who don't know what an Affiliate link is I'll explain. It is a link that has a special ID embedded in it so that the vendor can knows who earned the commission on that sale and makes payment accordingly.

There are many ways to connect customers with sellers in Affiliate Marketing and I'll just touch on a three of them.

Article Marketing: This is where you create a short article about the product, service or membership that your Affiliate link will send the Buyer to. Something like what you are reading now. To do this you will need to do some research on these products, services or memberships so you can let others know about them. Somewhere either in the body of the article or in the provided space at the bottom of the article you can place you Affiliate Link. So as someone was to read your article and may require more information, they click on the link and are zipped to the Sellers Website and hopefully makes a purchase. This would earn you a commission.

Forum Marketing: Online Forums are good places where you should promote your Affiliate Link. Forums are usually specialized. What I mean by that is, that forums are usually separated by specific categories. Here is an example, if you had an Affiliate Link to a pet shop you would go to forums for cameras and photography where you know that the people who will read your post in that forum already be interested in your vendors products. Each time you post on a form you're putting your Affiliate Link out there. You will have to read the rules on using links in each specific Forum or ask the users of the Forum if they know?

eZine Advertising: This will probably cost you some cash, because a lot of eZines charge you for this service feature. In Affiliate Marketing this is one way to expose your Affiliate Link to groups of potential customers who are looking for that one thing that you are promoting. It is like posting in a highly visible classified ad. The cost will vary depending on the location of the ad. You can place your eZine ads in specific categories' pertaining to your vendors products, services or memberships.

There are tons more ways to spread you Affiliate link around and generate an income by web. So again in affiliate marketing, is a Website necessary? No, not at all. But would a Website generate more traffic and earnings? Yes.
