Affiliate Marketing Made Understandable

affiliate marketing is a pretty reasonable way to start your own home-based business and earn a little extra income or go all out and kiss your boss goodbye and work from home in your own timeframe.  Now, I am not going to tell you that is the world’s easiest income, or that you can get rich by working only an hour a day.  Those things fall under the too-good-to-be-true category.  What I will tell you is that with some hard work and consistent effort, you can make a decent living with affiliate marketing. 

So, what exactly is affiliate marketing?  Well, in a nutshell, this is how it works: 

You create a website.

You write articles about a product you are knowledgeable about.
You put the articles on your website.

You contact the company that sells the product and join their affiliate program.

You collect commissions from the sales that are generated through your website. 

If this sounds easy, well, it is, but it is not a get-rich-quick scheme.  You have to do research on products to find ones you really can promote and for which there is a viable market.  You have to write a lot of articles.  You have to keep up and pay for your website.  You have to find companies that use affiliate marketing techniques because not all of them do.  And you can’t do all this in an hour; you must be willing to invest your time. 

If you are willing to put forth the effort it takes and you can build a good website and write interesting, compelling copy, affiliate marketing is a reasonable way to make a little extra cash for vacations or a pretty decent living from home.
