Affiliate Marketing Survival Skill: Checking The Merchant’s Competitiveness
You have selected the market that you want to base your business in, selected the affiliate product that you are going to promote and created the website that you will be driving traffic to. Once you have done all these steps, there are many other factors that you will have to consider so that you will have a good affiliate campaign. One of the factors that you will have to consider is the merchant’s competitiveness.
The first thing that you want to do is to check whether the merchant is actively promoting his own product. Since the merchant owns the product and he has a better understand of the product, he will be able to promote the product better than you. The merchant will become your competitor and you will only be able to market better than him if you have better marketing skills. Most of the merchant will let the affiliates promote the product and they will not interfere so that it will be fair to the affiliates.
The 2nd thing that you have to check is the competitiveness of the product. There are some products where there are too many affiliates promoting it. It will be very competitive and you might not get as much sales as you expected. There are some people who will argue that promoting a product which has high competition is good as it shows that there is a demand for the product. It is true but you will need to be good in marketing in order to get the sales that you want.
These are the 2 things that you will want to take note when you are checking the merchant’s competitiveness. You will want to choose a affiliate product which has certain demand for it and the merchant is not your competitor. Do remember to check the competitiveness and you will have much lesser chances of making any mistakes.
