Affording Your Wedding

Are you thinking about how you are going to afford your wedding? You are not alone. The price tag of many nuptials these days can get out of control pretty quickly. But, there are many ways of having the wedding of your dreams and still being able to afford it. Of course, this may take a little bit of saving, flexibility, creative thinking, and even a little do-it-yourself kind of craftiness to make it happen. But, if you are open to the possibilities of making your day quite unique, it will be as special as you are.

Of course there are some essential pieces to a wedding that are going to be a little bit pricey. That is just the way it goes. But, you can defray some of those costs by being a little savvy First, if you don't have your heart set on getting married in a church, you can choose a wedding site like on the beach, in a park, or even a family friend's home. Exchanging your vows somewhere where there is no cost will allow for you to have a little money to spend on the reception hall. There are many beautiful places that do not cost one cent. You just have to look around.

Another great way to make your wedding happen on a budget is to have your friends arrange their own flower bouquets. Buying a few flowers, or even some simple and inexpensive arrangements from your local farmers market or grocery store can be beautiful and cost effective. Thinking outside the box can really make your whole day more affordable. If you are quite whimsical, or like to have a bit of fun, you may even want to consider making your own paper flowers or even think about using helium balloons as a bouquet that can be let go at the end of the ceremony.

Often times, when a couple just cannot afford to throw a lavish affair they make a decision about what things they will splurge on and what things they will try and save on. This kind of thinking can really make the whole process more enjoyable and rather fun. For one, knowing that you will not be in debt later on for just one day is always a good thing. But, for other reasons, too, when the couple has to rely on creative thinking, a bit more of their own personality comes out, and it shows in the whole event itself.

If you must have certain elements on your special day, or your heart is set on specific things that are very pricey, the best choice is to save for them. Putting off your nuptials for a year and a half or two years can mean the difference between having it or not. And, if you think about it, putting off the date for another six months to a year will not only allow for more time to afford it, it will allow for more enjoyment of your engagement.
