Aftermarket Hand Grips For A Custom Suzuki Intruder

When you want to customize your Suzuki Intruder, it's often easy to over look one of the best (and generally among the cheapest) ways of doing so which is with aftermarket motorcycle hand grips.

The style of grip on the original Intruder is basically a rubber sleeve with two chrome end pieces encasing it. One end piece is a ring and this is the part that allows the grip to slide over the handlebar. The other end piece is more of a decorative cap that seals the handlebar shut. While this is a nice looking hand grip, it does little to differentiate itself from so many other stock grips on other motorcycles.

This is where the aftermarket grips come into play.

Not only can you get nearly any style you may want, but if you shop around (and know what to look for) then many times you can come up with just the right grip for a decent price. Let's take a look how we can do this.

Your very first stop should be your local dealer. Take a look at what they have on the shelf for your particular year and model of Intruder and if you're lucky, you may just find what you're looking for. Unfortunately, this is often not the case. So now you need to ask a sales rep. Chances are they'll have some kind of catalog or brochure for you to look at. They might even pull something up on their computer for you. Again, if see what you like, get it. If not, you'll have to look elsewhere. I would suggest going online.

There are far too many places to find aftermarket motorcycle parts online, but doing a search for Suzuki Intruder Hand Grips should return plenty of sites for you to sink your teeth into. Just glancing through the top five or ten search results should give you an idea of the variety of grip styles available. Plenty more than what you will likely find at your local Suzuki dealer. If you happen to find one you like, it would be to your advantage to look through more online dealers to get the best deal.

But what if you still don't find what you're looking for?

This is a common problem, not just with Suzuki Intruders but with any bike that does not receive the aftermarket support of its piers. Luckily, the Intruder uses a one-inch handlebar. Harley Davidson also uses a one-inch handlebar. And when it comes to aftermarket support, nothing beats the support Harleys enjoy. With just a few small modifications (and for many of the grips, no mods are necessary) you can have your pick of the litter. Again, when you find something you like, don't be afraid to search out a better deal.

Unfortunately, I can't say the same customization options hold true for all Suzuki Intruder parts, but when it comes to aftermarket motorcycle hand grips, the sky's the limit.
