Air Jordans Are Truly Inspiring Basketball Shoes

One of the main reasons behind the immense popularity of Air Jordans is that these shoes offer everything that any high-performance shoe should and much more. Jordan shoes are probably one of the few brands of shoes that have consistently performed since its launch in 1985. Today, the Jordan brand of shoes not only cater to basketball players but also to common people, teenagers, and players from other competitive sports; thus widening its market. Today, teenagers wear Jordans to flaunt their fashion or for making a bold fashion statement. Although the first range of Jordan shoes launched were Jordan I but success started pouring in only from the Jordan III model onwards and since then there has been no looking back.

In total, till date, 23 Air Jordans series have been introduced. Here is a list of the different types of Jordan shoes introduced so far:

Air Jordan I: This is the first of the air jordans and were designed by Peter Moore. These Jordan shoes were released in 1985 and were considered to be the greatest breakthrough in basketball shoes. The Air Jordan I came out in vibrant red and black color combination.

Air Jordan II: These air jordans were released only after Michael Jordan completed his second year at NBA. These Jordan shoes were made from high quality Italian leather and the overall design was inspired from an Italian women’s boot predominant in the 19th century.

Air Jordan III: The Air Jordan III series was designed by Tinker Hatfield and these Jordan shoes came out with a new “Jumpman” logo as well. Some of the other notable features of the Jordan III include a visible air / ventilation unit in the heel, use of tumble leather, and an elephant print trim.

Air Jordan IV: The Air Jordan IV shoes were introduced in 1989 and were designed by Tinker Hatfield. This was the first of the air jordans released globally.

Air Jordan V: Released in 1990, these air jordans came out with a new innovation: clear rubber soles. The Air Jordan V series are considered to be the highest selling Jordan shoes of all time. The inspiration for the Jordan V was taken from the highly successful World War II fighter plane – Mustang.

Air Jordan VI: The Air Jordan VI was released in the latter half of 1990 and Michael Jordan actually went on to win the NBA championship wearing these Jordan shoes.
Air Jordan VII: The Air Jordan VII series of shoes were introduced in late 1991 and shared many similarities with its predecessor.

Air Jordan VIII: The Air Jordan VIII was released during the 1992-1993 NBA season and these air jordans were definitely heavier than the predecessors. This model of Jordan shoes was given the title “flower-power Air Jordan”

Air Jordan IX: The Air Jordan IX was introduced in late 1993 and is the first model of Jordan shoes to be released post Michael Jordan’s retirement. This model was different from other Air Jordans released so far because it had baseball cleats.

Air Jordan X till XXIII has been introduced post Michael Jordan’s retirement.
