Alkali Foods – How Do They, How Can They, Promote Good Health?
Many people believe that a balanced diet is the secret to sound health and longevity, that a diet rich in protein, dairy foods, fruit and vegetables will ensure this. This is what we have been told by ‘the experts’, by doctors, nutritionists and health workers. And yet, look around you. Are we witnessing lots of healthy people going about their daily lives? Is that ‘balanced diet’ really ensuring good health? Ironically this flies in the face of the truth. The reality is, if you want to stay healthy well into the latter years of your life, there is one clear way of achieving this, and that is through maintaining balanced body chemistry. Keeping your body in a slightly alkaline condition, that is around 7.4 on a scale of 0-10, will go a long way towards protecting your body from the degenerative diseases that plague our society today. Balance is the key You see, if the pH of your blood, channelling through your arteries, goes below 6.8 or indeed rises beyond 7.8, essentially you are in trouble. Daily, your body works tirelessly to ensure a stable pH for you. However, if you tend to live on a diet of acidic foods it will still work for you except that it will rob from other body parts, such as teeth and bones, in order to do so. Acidosis Acidosis occurs when we feed our bodies an over-supply of acidic foods, so creating acidification at a cellular level. This creates a low oxygen environment that robs us of energy and joie de vivre. This is a dangerous condition, as it has the ability to weaken all body systems, and provide an environment that is susceptible to disease. Our western way of living! One of the greatest contributors to acidosis is the processed convenience food that we have all adapted to for whatever reasons. Clever advertising, overly-busy work schedules and demanding lifestyles, have led many of us to cave in to convenience. High in sugar, salt, trans-fats, and containing many chemical additives, processed food is the prime culprit of acidosis. Meat, dairy, caffeine, wheat, trans-fats, salt, yeast and alcohol, all play their part in the process of acidosis. Is it any wonder there is confusion out there? Many of these are the very foods that are supposed to be providing us with our ‘balanced diet’. So what to do? Making the switch to a much more natural diet, high in raw foods being the preferred option, is one way towards providing your body with the nutrition that it needs. A diet that is even 70% alkaline will lead to a body that will be much sleeker, slimmer and much better oiled than its acidic counterpart. Further, alkaline foods will help anyone who is sick, regain their health over time. Aging well One thing to realize about aging is that the process will accelerate in an acidic environment. Given that most of us would prefer to look and feel younger, embracing an alkaline diet will serve to remove toxic waste from your body, clear the skin and re-vitalize. Organics are your friend! Large amounts of organic vegetables are needed to do this. You see, when you consume too much acidic food, the waste not excreted through the urine or through your sweat glands, will remain inside your body and accumulate, if left unchecked, in your blood vessels. Your cells will eventually be affected, that is, starved of vital oxygen, the cause of many diseases. So, whilst it’s understandable that many of us have laboured under the ‘balanced diet’ way of eating, making small changes each and every day will serve to convince you otherwise. Simply eating an amount of live food at every meal will start the process of change. From then on, it’s up to you. Contrast how you feel when eating more healthily through alkali foods, with one where convenience predominates. Which would you rather? You will love yourself for it.
