All About Dryers

If you've ever cooked a pair of socks in the oven, or hastily donned something that was still damp around the waistband, then you'd probably appreciate a clothes dryer. Most dryers these days work with a tumbling action and heat in the form of gas or electricity to pass hot air through the clothes and dry them. The tumbling action helps the air to circulate freely through the clothing. These dryers should have external vents to allow the hot, humid air to escape. If not, it will increase the humidity inside the home and lead to an increase in mould and mildew growth. The vents should be kept free of lint for more efficient running, even so they don't really use heat efficiently. But they are relatively cheap, simple to use and don't take up too much room.

Tumble dryers can also be run on a cool cycle that saves electricity and cools down the clothes before they are taken out of the dryer. Many mothers like tumble dryers for the way clothing seems to come out nicely fluffed up and uncreased. In some cases, clothes need no ironing after being in a dryer. They are certainly a boon for mothers of little children and babies.
