“all Star League” Real Madrid And Barcelona 2008-2009

The designated “Star League” in spanish football, kicked this week with two favorites Real Madrid and Barcelona. After falling down to Manchester United in the Champions League, Barcelona has to watch over heads, because despite the fact Real Madrid has been crowned title holder of La Liga, they are looking forward to deliver mockery at first chance.

Let’s not forget our title, but review some details quickly. How much financially is Real Madrid willing to risk this year to become “indestructible”?

Ramon Calderon has refuted Real Madrid will break the bank to fortify Cristiano Ronaldo's services from Manchester United this summer. A world record fee has been hyped for the Portuguese player…should The Red Devils out of the blue grant his release from his long-term contract at Old Trafford.

Real currently holds the world record for the ultimate transfer fee paid when they slapped out 46 million Euros on Juventus' Zinedine Zidane in 2001.

It has been said the Real Madrid could be inclined to pay up to 100 million Euros for Ronaldo after Coach Bernd Schuster appeal the club to disburse what is crucial to confirm the deal. However, Calderon insists the Spanish giants will never pay £80 million to bring a player to Santiago Bernabeu. We see this becoming a historical deal, if it happened today!

As we mentioned in our past article “Manchester United to repeat for 2009”, Man Utd has survived the 'Ronaldo saga' and lived to fight another day, so there is no 'Cristiano Ronaldo case' because Manchester do not want to sell. Real Madrid will never pay 100 million Euros for anybody."

Now, coming back to our title, both teams arrive to the match with similarities. Whereas Real Madrid is no longer mix up with in the Champions League like Barcelona was, they have achieved 5 in 8 games this 2008. Barcelona on the other hand, only 2 games out of 8 for the campaign. Real Madrid has won their last 3 games while going down to Valencia 2-3, their second beat at Santiago Bernabeu Stadium. They are also on a position to having won their last 4 resident matches and achieving to score 8 games to the tile, while grating only once in the process.

After a terrible season, the Catalonians will try to modify the tactic this year. Coach Frank Rjikaard was replaced and Pep Guardiola will replace him. Deco and Ronaldinho are out too. A new age begins for Barcelona and the summer signings are very interesting. Daniel Alves is, in my opinion, the best right wing-back in the world, and is joining Messi—building an atomic dynamic duo. Seydou Keita will deliver muscle and potency in the midfield. They have also renewed the defense, so the team looks pretty sharp. They better pray for Leo Messi not to get injured for the entire season. This player is key to success. FC Barcelona also needs Samuel Eto’o and Guardiola has to look for a way to keep him happy. With Iniesta and Xavi in the midfield, they have a depth and prepared team. If they start fast and are able to build some momentum they will be a wall.

For me (and everybody around the globe for sure), Real Madrid and FC Barcelona are the all time challengers. Real has the advantage of being a prepared team, with its own style. Barcelona has to search its one. They have to learn to play together and adapt to the new head coach. It could be the biggest difference and it makes the start of the championship so important and interesting.

All in said, both have millions invested, so the bottom line is “who capitalized for the future”.
