Chapped Lips Treatment – Get Your Lips More Beautiful

Chapped lips give new meaning to the expression "crack a smile." When your lips are sore, red, and peeling, even a little grin can crack them wide open. No wonder you feel—and look—like Oscar the Grouch. So put those lips back in the pink with these tips. They'll help bring a smile to your face.

Following are the causes of chapped, cracked or dry lips Over exposure to the cold or windy conditions, Over exposure to the sun, Allergies to cosmetic products, Infections, Drugs, Dehydration, Kawasaki disease, Macrocytosis, Riboflavin deficiency, Sjogren's syndrome, Frequent use of soaps and other chemicals, Deficiency of vitamin A, B and C, Smoking, History of skin disorder When the lips are chapped or dry do not attempt to lick them, this will make you feel better only for short time. Once the saliva evaporates the condition will worsen. Your lips could be in problem because of your ill-fitting dentures, in such case consult your dentist.


Vitamin A is also important for repair of skin. Ensure that your diet includes vitamin A rich ingredients like carrots, tomatoes, green leafy vegetables, whole grains and legumes. You can also have a vitamin rich juice made up of 1 tbsp. of water cress, carrot and spinach juice, 2 tbsp. wheat germ oil, one glass of tomato juice, and 1 tbsp. of nutritional yeast.

The sun's ultraviolet rays can damage and dry the sensitive skin on your lips in the same way they can harm the skin on other parts of your body. Indeed, the lips are a common site for skin cancer, since they don't contain melanin, a pigment (coloring) that helps protect skin from ultraviolet rays. Certain skin cancers that appear on the lips may be more serious and more likely to spread, too, so if you'll be out in the sun, use a lip balm that contains sunscreen. Choose a product that has an SPF (sun protection factor) of 15 or higher.

Stay away from citrus fruits like lemons or oranges because when you eat them the juice will seep out and it will get into the cracks in Ur lips and it'll sting. Bad. Put lots of Vaseline on your lips and it should heal fast. If your gonna use the twist-up kind, don't use the scented or perfume-y kinds because that will feel as horrible as the lemons. Note: when you put Chap Stick on your lips you should smile. This will stretch out your lips and get the Chap Stick into the cracks, were it really helps.

Unlike your skin, lips lack the natural oils needed to protect against drying winter winds and the low humidity of indoor heating. And lips are easily burned by the sun's rays (which do double damage when reflecting off snow) because they contain no melanin, the pigment in the rest of the skin that causes freckles and suntan.
