Alternative Storage Using Traditional Bedroom Furniture

If you are someone who lives in small space, traditional bedroom furniture can really use a lot of your space. While there are exceptions (like those on Hoarders) most people want to hide their clutter. Bedrooms are typically the first place to store stuff, and since traditional closets will never hold all your stuff, we’ve got some tips for storage.

1. For most people, clothes will take up the majority of storage space. Shelves and drawers are typically the easiest way to store your clothes, especially if your space is not large enough for a full-size dresser. Traditional bedroom furniture will often have drawers built in as a standard feature. If you need extra space, it is quite simple to build drawers to put in a closet or unused corners.

2. Hideaway beds are popular among people who often have guests in their homes. However, many people don’t think about the fact that you can store boxes of unused clothes in their off-season. Most traditional bedroom furniture will also have the height requirements to store boxes underneath. The only downside is that they are harder to access than a shelf. But when it comes to space, sometimes you have to take what you can get.

3. Decorative storage is always another possibility as well. Some may think that because it’s their own bedroom and few will ever see it, why not just line your boxes along the wall? However, when you think about all the time you spend in your room, you may as well use storage options that get mistaken as part of the décor of your room. An item such as a trunk at the end of your bed can look like a great decorative piece, while still having functional storage use.
