Amateur Photographers Have It Easy These Days

The industry of photography has been forever changed by the modern camera. Digital technology has changed the manner in which pictures are taken and the function of the modern photographer. Over the years, photography has had its ups and downs. Some people would not say that today's fast paced, digitally enhanced photography is no longer an art form worthy of respect.

Modern photographers now more than ever are capable of capturing the beauty of nature because of how affordable the modern camera is; a professional grade camera costs only a few thousand dollars while a simple point-and-shoot camera can cost as little as twenty bucks.

Film has now become obsolete thanks to memory cards. The memory card has done so many unbelievable things like its ability to capture a photo in an instant. Not only that but the photographer does not have to wait for the film to develop - they can see the pictures they have taken instantly and decide whether or not they like the captured image. Being able to do this allows for time efficiency. Anyone can now become a photographer by purchasing a few low cost pieces of equipment. The main pieces of equipment that a modern photographer must posses are the camera itself, a few memory cards, a computer, and software to edit the photos. These are the main components to becoming a photographer now and they are fairly cheap and easy to come by.

Other artists are now able to use photography in a manner that would have been impossible in the not so distant past. For example, a sculptor can take a photograph of something he wants to sculpt and then have a clear visual print within an hour that can be used to help them recreate a sculptor of the object in question.

A profession in photography is more plausible for the average Joe simply because anyone with some talent and a camera and a few additional tools can become a professional within a few weeks rather than a few years. Early photographers did not have as much at their disposal compared to the modern photographers; with all the high tech equipment currently available, it is rather easy to capture great photos in an hour whereas before it took many hours to capture just one great photo. Like Snowflake Bentley, he was a photographer of the 20th century and it took him days on end just to capture a great picture of a snowflake. During his era, photography took time and patience. But now with modern technology most anyone can become a photographer without devoting an abundance time to develop their craft.

Most artists would argue to be a true artist you must live, breathe, and eat art. Photographers can now do that in a way than never before. They can capture the most unseen and exotic places like Africa and Caribbean Islands. If you ever had and interest in photography, now is the ideal time to get your hands on a camera. Even if it’s only a fifty dollar point and shoot camera, you can practice and practice, and pursue your love of photography without making a huge investment.
