An Amazing Natural Remedy Center: Your Kitchen

Do you know what food in your kitchen can actually double as a natural heartburn remedy? Actually, there are more amazing remedies in the common foods you already have than you may have imagined.

Bananas: Eating ripe banana can put a quick stop to heartburn. No one really knows why, but ripe (not the ones with the greenish skins) bananas work quickly to neutralize stomach acid. Unripe banana, on the other hand, can actually cause heartburn. Mixing the banana into a smoothie or making banana bread from them doesn’t seem to help, however, so just eat the banana “as is.”

Raw Almonds: Eating a few raw almonds after a meal can stop heartburn before it starts. Be a good host or hostess, and pass the almonds after dinner! Chew them well, as they seem to work better that way. Keep a few in your pocket or purse for emergencies.

Apples:Apples are also well known for their heartburn stopping qualities. You can slice an apple up and eat it with your meal, or just take whole apples with you when you travel. You don’t have to eat a whole apple, a few slices will do. Galas are a good brand to try.

The other way apples are helpful is in the form of natural, organic apple cider. This “vinegar remedy” has been around for a long time. Bragg’s Apple Cider is the most well known brand, but regular vinegar or other brands will work also. If you decide to try apple cider vinegar as a natural heartburn remedy, start with a teaspoonful at the first sign of heartburn. It may burn a little as it goes down, but the feeling should subside in a few seconds. You can also mix the vinegar with water or mix it into tea with some honey to cut the taste. This has also worked for many people who suffer from gout.

Lemons: Lemon juice, as strange as it may seem, may also help your heartburn. Lemons are acidic when you eat them, but they turn alkaline in your system. Drinking water with lemon between meals may actually calm your heartburn.

The best way to determine which of these foods is the best natural remedy for heartburn is to try them and see how they work in your system. There are many more foods you can use to tame your heartburn.
