With so much to do when you go on a vacation, who has time to hang around the hotel? But with the way the economy is and each and every hotel needing to fill rooms, the hotels are offering things that a lot of people are more willing to take advantage of. Many of these amenities are becoming universal; it's not enough to offer just the promise of air conditioning and color television.

You have to find other ways to attract new business and give the guests a reason to choose your hotel over the one down the street. For many people, they are going to pick a hotel on preference and experience, but for people that do not travel a lot or do not have a particular hotel that they choose time and again over all others; it is the opportunity for the hotel to distinguish itself.

One amenity that has become much more popular in recent years is the exercise facilities. The exercise facilities used to be an afterthought to most travelers in the past, but with individuals wanting to stay healthier and more active, these facilitates have really become a major selling point for many hotel chains. It's not the fact that lots of people want to have to ability to exercise while staying away from home, maybe they normally go to a gym or jog in their neighborhood, but they need a way to continue with their normal routines.

An individual that likes to jog three times a week will still like to jog three times a week even if they are in a strange city. They may perhaps not want to jog around the strange neighborhood and so having a treadmill available in the facility would go a long way to pleasing this sort of guest. It gives them a chance to keep some habits from home even though they are in a strange place. Giving up your normal routine or straying from what you're used to, whether it's sleeping on a new bed or eating at different restaurants or exercising in a strange facility are all things that wear on someone while traveling and is another stress that makes the experience uncomfortable, but being able to keep their routine somewhat normal helps a little bit.
